"Sobins is a hidden treasure on a crazy dusty busy south-Delhi road. Super easy to miss as one walks by, the restaurant is accessed by climbing a flight of relatively steep and narrow stairs. Once inside there is very little space to move around. It's compact - around 12 ft square - with seating for 16 at 4 tables. The staff is smiley and friendly and Sobin has an honorary doctorate! He looks super swish in his traditional veshti when serving food. And oh, the food! It's faultless (what little we have eaten so far). The flavours in the Paneer Kothu Parotta and Chicken Kizhi Parotta are soul satisfying. The Kerala Meal is a tapas-like sample of a wide range of the restaurant's vegetarian offerings. All the food comes on fresh greeny banana leaves - a sight for sore eyes after coping with the Mad Max landscape outside. Prices are amazingly low and portions are fabulously large. We will be back!"
"I visited Sobins Green today, an authentic Kerala food place, and honestly, it was a very nice experience.
The best part was that the owner himself, Mr. Sobin, took my order. He always had a warm smile on his face and made me feel very comfortable. You can easily tell that he really loves what he is doing.
I ordered a coffee first, and it was one of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time. I liked it so much that I ended up ordering one more. For food, I had roasted fish, I think it was tilapia, wrapped in a leaf. It was full of flavour and tasted very fresh. I also ordered chicken biryani, which was served on a banana leaf. Eating it that way just made it feel more authentic.
While I was eating, Mr. Sobin came a few times to ask how the food was. It felt very genuine as if he seem to have really cared.
When I asked for the bill, he surprised me by giving a discount. Since I had eaten with my hands, they were dirty, and I told him I would have shaken his hand if my hands were clean. He smiled, put his hand forward anyway, and shook my hand."
"It is often said that a city reveals its most enchanting secrets not at street level, but just above the line of sight. Guided by this belief, we chose to look up—and were surprised with one of the finest Kerala meal experiences, quietly tucked away in Malviya Nagar. Food and a great story attached to the philosophy of life itself makes it outstanding. 'Sobins Greens' serves the community with utmost care, attention and detail. The food of course is home style, traditional and palatable but what truly appeased my senses was the holistic attitude towards serving 'philanthropy' one spoon at a time. Such ideas are forever and a day and leaves an instant impression that a city thrives because of its migrant- immigrant communities and their contributions to strengthen local economies and foster innovative diversity.
Also, Sobin, the man who runs the show, is seasoned by his years in military service, and believes in giving beautiful weekend discounts. You just can't miss this fantastic little hole- in- the- wall restaurant for reasons so obvious.
P.S. I loved the pothu roast and porotta. My friend Tanu chose to settle with her favourite veg qorma."
"Nicest host. Will take time to recommend dishes and explain what pairs well with what.
The chicken chettinad made with coconut paste is the best tasting thing we had. The prawn roast is okay-ish, small prawns and the roast masala was too sweet for our liking. The fish polichattu (half cooked fish wrapped in banana leaf and steam) is a speciality, and worth it if you like having whole fish like that.
Nice soft parotta. Appam was great too."

"Had a great meal at Sobins Greens. Authentic Kerala food served on banana leaves (plates and cutlery also available for those who need). The host was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed mutton biriyani, chicken stew, appam and Kerala parotta. A special dish for dessert was pazham pori (banana fritter) which was the perfect finish to the meal. Highly recommended for those seeking authentic Kerala taste in a cozy setting with warm hospitality."
