"Location: 22/1C, Manohar Pukur Road, Desapriya Park, Kolkata.
• Cuisine: Kerala / South Indian, including non-veg and veg specialties.
• Price: Mid-to-upper mid range. For two people expect approx ₹400-600 in many cases. But certain special items or non-veg combos push it higher.
• Ambience: Smaller, cozy, Kerala-flavoured, banana leaf and earthen pots are part of the décor and serving style.

2. Good taste and presentation

What People Complain About / Where It Drops
1. Service Issues
• Slow service at times; waiting for food can be long.
• Staff sometimes criticized for being rude or inattentive.
• Order mixups occasionally (e.g. order delivered elsewhere or delayed).
2. Quantity vs Price
Many say the quantity is not always adequate for the price being charged. Some felt the portions were smaller than expected for what they paid.
3. Inconsistency & Availability
• Not all items are always available (e.g., filter coffee, some specials).
• Occasional dips in food quality (too spicy, or meat having more fat) noted.
4. Space / Ambience Limitations
• Restaurant is small; seating can feel cramped when many tables are occupied.
• The décor is pleasant, but some feel it could improve / has deteriorated slightly over time.
⸻
Overall Verdict
Ammini is a good place to visit if you are craving Kerala flavour and want something more than just the standard dosa-idly fare. You’ll likely enjoy:
• Flavours that are closer to home for people who know Kerala / South Indian cuisine.
• Non-vegetarian dishes done with spice and care.
• Desserts and traditional accompaniments done well.
But you should go in with realistic expectations:
• Don’t expect huge portions; you may feel paying more for quality rather than quantity.
• Be patient with service during busy hours.
• Some menu items might not be available or made to order (so special ones perhaps need pre-ordering or checking)."

"One of the OG places in Calcutta serving authentic Kerala cuisine. It’s always a delight visiting this place with my mother because we really enjoy the food here! Their menu, taste and quality hasn’t changed in years and it’s always comforting to go back to a place where you know what you’ll get. We always order the veg combo meal, a non veg gravy and flaky Malabar Parathas!"

"Can be termed as an hidden gem. One of the best Karelian restaurants in Kolkata. Their Dry Mutton combo with Malabar Partha or Appams stands out. They serve a chicken/ mutton Stew on weekends which is also nice but doesn’t go with the weekend palet.
Definite scope of improvement in terms of service.
Needs to be customer friendly and accommodative."

"The food at Ammini is delicious everything is freshly made to order right in front of you, our complaint were about the portion sizes, they are too small for the prices they charge for the items, and the chutneys made with coconut, the coconut milk was extracted out of it before making the chutneys, hence the chutneys tasted dry, the best thing on the menu we had were the Malabar paratha, we were so hungry at that point that we missed taking photos of it. The filter coffee was nothing special."

"I have had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on two separate occasions, and both experiences were delightful. The first time, I visited for lunch with my mother. We shared incredibly soft and fluffy appam, irriappam, and a flavorful chicken curry. The meal was a true taste of authentic Kerala cuisine, and the staff's warm hospitality made the experience even more special.
My second visit was for a sadya with a friend, and it exceeded all expectations. The food was absolutely amazing, with each dish bursting with traditional flavors. The entire spread was a feast for the senses, from the crispy banana chips to the rich and creamy payasam. The ambiance of the restaurant was lively and vibrant, creating a festive atmosphere. The staff's attentiveness and cheerful demeanor made us feel welcome and well-cared for. Overall, the exceptional food, fantastic vibe, and outstanding service make this a place I would highly recommend for anyone seeking an authentic and memorable dining experience."
