Maaveli Kerala Restaurant
Viman Nagar
.
Craving for some Kerala Cuisine, I have a best place recommendation for all the Pune people.
Maaveli Kerala Restaurant have the best and authentic Kerala Cuisine.
As we enter the restaurant, you can smell the authentic spices in the air, the beautiful aroma of coconut oil and different spices. At the entrance there is a small mandir and a small store, which has all the different dry items like banana chips, jackfruit chips, pickles and many more.
We started you food journey with
Drinks-
They served us with a warm water drink which have ayurvedic properties and lemon water topped with chia seeds.
Staters-
:Chicken fried- It was so different from all the chicken fried, I had tried. So flavour full, aromatic and melts in the mouth. Definitely give it a try, if you are visiting here.
:Paneer Chilli- Again, it tastes a lot different. The spices used were not spicy but have a wonderful taste. Capcicum and onions were as tasty as the paneer.
:Chicken Masala- It's a stater as well a main course dish. Chicken was cooked to perfection. Loved this one a lot
:Fish fry- Small pieces of fish, fried and topped with different spices. Worth the try if you are a fish lover.
:Chicken Pepper fry- Chicken coated with pepper and then fried. A lovely combination.
Main Course-
:First we tried the unlimited Veg Thali-
Served on banana leave, containing 13 different items, rice, Sambar, pickles, banana chips, appam, papad, different subji. The sambar was so yummy. Definitely worth the try.
:Kerala Paratha with chicken kuttanadan-
What a perfect combination. The chicken is made in coconut curry and served directly on the Paratha. One of the best thing a tried here. And definitely going back to eat again.
And lastly we were served with Sulaiman tea, which is good for digestion after a heavy meal.
I really loved all the dishes, I tried here.
Talking about the ambience- the sitting area is nice and gives a authentic vibe.
Staff and service are pretty good.
Overall loved this place."

Food brings people together. Food you can relate to and relax you.
I visit many places but what sets it apart are those who strive to make your experience pleasurable and memorable. Unni Raghavan is a warm hearted gentlemen who loves to cook and feed you with a zest and passion. He is an encyclopaedia on mallu cuisine and he personally supervises in the kitchen.
Kerala- State of spices bequeathed with a food culture so rich in heritage, we were looking forward to a scrumptious meal.
We were served a Welcome drink :-
Karinjali Vellam a warm detox drink thatβs offered in Kerala before you begin your meal. Not exciting in taste, just that one gets is a Nice feeling ππ€
Passionfruit Mocktail β it was refreshing cool and apt thirst quencher . So welcoming.
The other refreshments they server are soft / cold drinks.
*STARTERS*
Prawn Nirvana ( Sizzling Dish)
A signature recipe of renowned Chef Pillai
Here prawns came steamed, wrapped in banana leaf. On opening it looked amazing with spices and chillies. It was further cooked at the table in a hot pan ( like a sizzler) with thick coconut milk. The aroma was heavenly. The texture was creamy and the dish spiced flavourful and simply delicious! Prawn Nirvana is newly introduced on the menu.

FISH SHALLOW FRY(TAWA FRY)
Aiyla Fry(Mackerel)
Matthi Fry(Sardine)
Neymeen Fry(Surmai/Seer fish)
All three fishes came shallow fried in a red chilli paste masala, mild flavour. Fish was fresh and taste yummy!
*MAIN COURSE*
Chicken Pepper Masala ( Kurumulaka chicken) was moist and extremely delicious. I have never tasted a better one. Amazing flavourful. #musthave
Surmai Mappas β This yellow curry has no chilli powder and loaded with coconut milk that is very soothing to tastebuds. Usually eaten with appams or malabari parotha or rice.
Buff Ullarthiyadu -Boss well done. Loved the distinct hints of pepper, ginger and more. Buff was Absolutely finger licking good. #buffeatersdelight
*BREADS with the above curry*
Appam β So fluffy and soft.
Porotta β never have I seen a butter porotta with so many layers. Outstanding
Puttu β soft, with fresh coconut and moist. Simply loved this.
Meen Mappas served with puttu & papadams
Here black channa prepared in thickish gravy. You soak into it pieces of Puttu. Crush papadams and attack. Flavourful dish. The moist, soft puttu is a perfect mate to meen mappas. If you have never eaten this- Vegetarians you are going to love this.
Although Kerala food is loaded with spices, didnβt find anything predominantly overbearing or high on chillies and I was really happy eating at this amazing restaurant.
About the place: Maaveli is a decorated beautiful, with artefacts from this region, wooded furniture and a sizeable store selling groceries. It is in the basement so no direct sunlight but ventilation is ample.
They need to work on Service, found it a bit slow.
The portion, rates, freshness matched and completely is vfm.

"could have given a five star if the entrance that gives the first impression was in a better shape.
Food is definitely a six star... Only capacity to hold 40 people max at a time. Slightly on an expensive side compared to Kerala restaurants but you won't go bankrupt... Must visit if you like authentic Kerala cuisine.."
"For the love of Kerala food, we visited this place and I must say best place in Pune to have yummy Kerala food.
Thalaserry Biryani and Prawn Pollichadu is worth trying.
The flavor of that coconut oil in the food is just amazing.
Worth trying with Kerala Parota. Overall a very good experience.
Highly recommended place."
