"“Karthyani”, by its name, gives everyone the impression that it is a traditional and authentic Kerala cuisine restaurant. However, please see the attached pictures.
The food taste was below average. We ordered Kalanchi, Thirutha, Chemeen fry, Karimeen Pollichathu, Ayla fry, etc.etc. Almost all the curries tasted the same, as if the same gravy was used throughout. The cooking oil had a strong reused-oil taste.
We reached the restaurant at around 12:30 PM on the second day of the New Year 2026, expecting freshly cooked naadan fish curries. To be frank, the taste was far below average. The prawns were not fresh and tasted frozen, and it was very evident that reused cooking oil—at least a few days old was used.
All items were disappointing. There was no proper fish masala or even adequate salt in any of the curries. Pls. refer to the attached pictures.
An absolute waste of money!! . Never visiting this place again."
"finest dine in experience if you are a seafood lover, ranked as one of the best sea food restaurant, located in maradu, neat and clean and hygienic ambience. Good seating capacity .
Even though moderate parkings slots are available,bt be prepared to wait even to get a parking slots at peak hours.
You hav to wait for your seat as it is jam packed during peak times.staffs are supportive friendly and hospitile,
They sell freshly catch fish and the dishes u r trying will make u experience that freshness.
Tried meals along with few fish items like thirutha curry, king fish fry and squid kanthari. All dishes were so yum n fresh.
Rates seems moderate or little above, but worth the price considering the quantity and taste.
Recomend to reserve your seat"
"The unique blend of kerala style meals along with seafood dishes makes this place a no-brainer for all the seafood lovers out there.
Well for a non seafood lover like myself, this place made me fall in love with seafood dishes because of the taste, quality and the home made touch that they deliver.
The wait times can be a gamble depending on the time and day but expect atleast a minimum of 20 mins wait time as standard (well the first time it was over 45 mins). The crowd gathering for the food is not proportional to their seating arrangements and the parking on site is limited too, but all these struggles pay off once you sit on the table. There is an ac and non ac seating area as well. The menu is simple with a few mastered seafood items on offer and rice options ranging from meals and seafood biriyani. From there, it just takes off to a whole new level, the staff on site are courteous and extra brownie points for their hospitality in pampering you with rice and dishes till you wave that stop. The meals and its curries taste really good and all that effort to wait never goes in vain. Tried the squid kanthari, prawns roast and the karimeen which was fresh with perfect seasoning making it the best seafood dishes I've had, period.
Rating this as my favorite go to stop for seafood style kerala meals from now.
Highly recommended✅️"

"Good seafood joint in Cochin.
Loved their seafood meal and dishes. We tried fried tiger prawns, sea bass fish, and Aiya fish, Everything tasted good. It gets very crowded during lunch, so be prepared for around a 30 minute wait."

"Karthiyayini, Kochi
A simple, homely place that instantly makes you feel like you’re eating at someone’s home in Kerala. Seating is casual and communal — if you’re at a large table, be ready to share. The restaurant is open only from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, yet it’s packed every single day, and for good reason.
The menu focuses purely on seafood with a few vegetable and dal options — no chicken, mutton, or any other meat, and no breads or rotis. Everything is served with Kerala’s own boiled brown rice, generously replenished throughout your meal.
We tried the Kalanji Tawa Fry – absolutely lipsmacking; the Naruneendi was refreshing, the Prawns Fry – freshly made and outstanding; the Thirutha Curry had the perfect balance of spice and flavour; and the Squid Kanthari was soft, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. The Avial, Sambhar, and Rasam were simply yummmm!
Every single dish stood out in its own way. Service was fast, warm, and genuinely caring — something rare to find these days.
Verdict: A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Kerala seafood and homestyle cooking. We all just loved it! ❤️🐟"
